Tenant Used Her Own Exterminator
LVT Number: 11102
Tenant complained of a reduction in services based on a ''roach problem.'' The DRA ruled for tenant and reduced her rent. Landlord appealed, pointing out that tenant had withdrawn her complaint and had stated that she was going to hire her own exterminator. The DHCR ruled for landlord and revoked the rent reduction. Tenant withdrew her complaint after the DRA's order was issued, so this wasn't relevant. However, tenant also stated in reply to landlord's answer to her complaint that she was assuming responsibility for exterminating in her own apartment because landlord's exterminator wasn't licensed. At that point, landlord was no longer responsible for extermination services to tenant's apartment.
