Landlord Filed Defective Building Registration

LVT Number: 9272

Landlord sued to evict tenant for staying in the apartment after his lease ended. Tenant asked the court to dismiss the case, arguing that landlord had filed a defective building registration. Tenant claimed that the registration on file didn't state landlord's correct name, nor did it list the managing agent's correct office or home address. The court ruled for tenant and dismissed the case. The registration form was void because it contained inaccurate information. Landlord can't sue to evict tenant until it files a proper building registration form with HPD.
