Tenant Lives in East Hampton
LVT Number: 14799
Landlord sued to evict rent-controlled tenant for nonprimary residence. After a trial, the court ruled for landlord. Tenant appealed and lost. Landlord proved that the 64-year-old tenant lived in East Hampton with her life partner in a house they owned together. She worked part time out there, and her Social Security checks were deposited directly into an East Hampton Bank. Also, her electrical usage at the apartment was minimal during the period in question.
