NYCHA Tenant Filed False Income Affidavits

LVT Number: #24372

NYCHA terminated tenancy after finding that tenant filed false income affidavits for eight years by intentionally concealing employment and Social Security income. This resulted in underpayment of rent. Tenant filed an Article 78 appeal of NYCHA's decision, claiming that she needed more time to move and was in poor health. The court ruled against tenant. Tenant didn't deny NYCHA's claim. She had in fact pleaded guilty to grand larceny and admitted she stole funds from the city by not reporting income and working under a different Social Security number.
