No Rent Hike for Leaky Roof

LVT Number: 16860

Landlord applied for MCI rent hikes based on the installation of a new roof. The DRA ruled against landlord because an inspection showed there was an active leak from the roof. Landlord appealed, claiming that it repaired the leak while its application was pending. The DHCR ruled against landlord. While its application was still pending, the DRA investigated landlord's claim that the roof leaks were repaired. Tenants submitted photographs showing that there were still problems, and the DHCR's own follow-up inspection found there were still roof leaks in the same areas.
