Landlord Seeks 10 Years of Back Rent

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Landlord claimed that tenant owed back rent totaling $40,000 for a 10 year period. The court ruled that landlord could only seek rent going back to March 1991. Landlord appealed and lost. Landlord's extreme delay prejudiced tenant, who received public assistance and who wouldn't be able to pay the full amount of the back rent.
