Landlord Needn't Paint to Tenant Specifications
LVT Number: 19231
Tenant complained of a reduction in services. Tenant had asked landlord to paint his apartment. After landlord did so, tenant claimed that landlord didn't follow tenant's specifications. The DRA ruled against tenant. Tenant appealed and lost. Tenant claimed that he wanted flat paint on the walls and ceilings, and semi-gloss paint on the wood trim. He said landlord refused to grant his request unless tenant paid a fee. But tenant waited until after landlord painted to complain. Inspection showed that the work was done in a lawful and workmanlike manner.
