Landlord Fined for Installing Sign Without Permit

LVT Number: 19403

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for installing a sign on the exterior wall of the residential part of a building without a permit. Landlord said it took the sign down shortly after the violation was issued, based on community objections. Landlord also argued that Local Law 14 of 2001 governed outdoor advertising signs and an installation permit wasn't required. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined it $400 for hanging the sign without a permit. Landlord appealed and lost.
