Landlord Changed Locks Before Tenant Moved in
LVT Number: 11054
Landlord sued tenant for back rent owed. The court ruled against landlord, and landlord appealed. The appeals court also ruled against landlord. Landlord changed the locks on the apartment door after signing a lease but before tenant moved in. This was a breach of the lease agreement. So tenant never had any obligation to pay rent.
