Increase Granted for Rewiring

The DRA granted landlord's application for MCI rent hikes based on rewiring. Tenants appealed and lost. The rewiring qualified as an MCI because landlord provided new risers and feeders to all apartments, as well as two dedicated double outlets in the kitchens to accommodate heavy-duty appliances. Landlord submitted the required DOB approval for the installation. Tenants claimed that the rewiring didn't allow them to use more than one appliance at a time without blowing fuses. Tenants could notify DOB or file service complaints with the DHCR if that was the case.
