Future Gas Connections Would Facilitate Illegal Gas Hookups

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for failing to maintain a building in a safe and code-compliant manner. DOB's inspector observed in a commercial area of the building's cellar future gas connections that were plugged in. The ALJ dismissed the violation, finding that FGC Section 408.2 didn't mention future connections.

DOB appealed and won. ECB found that the plugged future gas connections seen by DOB's inspector were prohibited by the cited code section. The future gas connections found in the cellar facilitated illegal hook-ups. Landlord was fined $1,250 for the violation.
