$18/Month Increase for Kitchen/Bathroom Sinks

Tenant complained of a rent overcharge. The DRA ruled for tenant and found a total overcharge of $280. Tenant appealed, claiming that landlord incorrectly increased his rent by $18 per month for installation of new kitchen and bathroom sinks. Tenant claimed that he had only agreed to pay a $5 per month increase for a new bathroom sink. The DRA ruled for landlord. Tenant appealed and lost. A prior court decision in a nonpayment case found that landlord was entitled to the $18 rent increase. The DRA correctly granted landlord this increase in calculating the overcharge amount.
