Tenants Claim Problems with Sabbath Elevator

LVT Number: #24063

Tenants complained of a reduction in building-wide services. They claimed that the elevators overheated and broke down on Saturdays when one elevator dedicated for Sabbath duty was used. The DRA ruled against tenants, who appealed and lost. DHCR inspection of the building's two elevators, performed on a weekday, revealed no problems with elevator service. The inspector found the elevators were adequately clean, stopped on all floors, and indicator lights worked. Tenants admitted that the elevators worked on other days of the week.

No reduction in services was found.
