Tenant Without Electricity for One Month
LVT Number: #19708
Tenant complained of a reduction in services based on termination of electrical service to his apartment. The DRA ruled against tenant because electricity had been restored by the time the DRA made its determination. Tenant appealed, claiming that he should get a rent reduction for the period he had no electric service. Tenant claimed that he was without electricity for at least a month. The DHCR ruled against tenant. Tenant admitted that electricity was restored shortly after he filed his complaint. If tenant suffered damages due to the loss of electric service, he can start a court proceeding to seek relief.
