Tenant Must Refund Rent Overcharge to Subtenant with Triple Damages

Subtenant complained to the DHCR of rent overcharge. The DRA ruled for subtenant and ordered tenant to refund $1,826, including triple damages. Tenant appealed and lost. Tenant claimed that subtenant didn't pay rent for the last three months he resided in the apartment, between June and August 2016. But the subtenant's complaint concerned rent paid through June 2016. So whether subtenant paid rent during July and August 2016 was irrelevant. Also, subtenant submitted proof that he paid rent for June 2016.
