Landlord sued to evict tenant for illegal subletting. The court ruled for landlord, and tenant appealed and lost. Landlord proved that tenant had lived in Washington, D.C., for five years. Subtenant claimed to be tenant's roommate, but there was no proof that subtenant had ever lived in the apartment with tenant. Landlord never accepted rent from subtenant, and tenant never asked permission to sublet.
