Tenant Didn't Clean Up Apartment Debris
LVT Number: 14467
Landlord sued to evict tenant for nuisance based on the extremely cluttered condition of tenant's apartment. Landlord and tenant signed a settlement agreement in court by which tenant agreed to clean up her apartment or be evicted. Landlord later asked the court for permission to evict tenant because she hadn't complied with the agreement. The court ruled for landlord. Tenant appealed and lost. An inspection and photographs of tenant's apartment several months after the agreement showed that tenant hadn't corrected the condition of the apartment. The comfort and safety of other tenants was at risk, given the excessive amount of debris piled high in tenant's apartment.
