Sanctions Imposed Against Tenant and Attorney
LVT Number: 14910
(Decision submitted by Jerry A. Montag of the Manhattan law firm of Mandel Resnik & Kaiser, PC, attorneys for the landlord.) Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. After the trial, the court ruled for landlord. The court also imposed sanctions against tenant and her attorney for making frivolous requests to the court and otherwise causing unnecessary delays in the case. Tenant appealed and lost. Tenant herself was an attorney. There was an overwhelming pattern of delay and harassment of landlord and the court by tenant and her attorney. Tenant's numerous requests were groundless and not made in good faith.
