Rent Demand Was Defective

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent after sending tenant a rent demand. Tenant claimed that landlord's rent demand was defective and asked the court to dismiss the case. The court ruled for tenant and dismissed the case. On the date the rent demand was sent, tenant owed $685. But landlord demanded payment of $2,499. Landlord's demand for more than what actually was owed was defective and couldn't be amended.
