Rent Demand Needn't Specify Date

LVT Number: 8835

(Decision submitted by Dean Roberts of the Manhattan law firm of Kucker Kraus & Bruh, attorneys for the landlord.) Landlord sued tenant for nonpayment of rent. Tenant asked the court to dismiss the case because the rent demand didn't specify the date the rent was due. Tenant loses. The notice specified that the rent was due three days from the date of service. This notice was sufficiently clear and met the statutory requirements of informing tenant of the claim against him, the option to pay within three days, and the consequences of nonpayment.
