Registration Mistakenly Filed with DHCR

Landlord completely rehabilitated all the apartments in the building. Several years later, landlord mistakenly filed a rent registration with the DHCR. Landlord asked the DHCR whether this mistake had forced the building to become subject to rent-stabilization coverage. The DHCR said ''no.'' The ''complete gut rehab'' exempted the building from rent stabilization, and the mistaken filing didn't nullify the exemption.
