MCI Increase Granted for TV/Security System

The DRA granted landlord’s application for MCI rent hikes based on the installation of a TV/security system. Tenants appealed, claiming that the TV system didn’t enhance building security. The DHCR ruled against tenants. The system included cameras monitoring the building’s entrances and common areas. By its presence alone, it served as a deterrent to crime and therefore enhanced the security of the building. Tenants submitted no proof that the system didn’t operate properly.
