Laundry Room Repair Work Didn't Require Building Permit
LVT Number: #27833
DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for installing a new exhaust system and metal ducts at the cellar floor laundry room without a permit, and for relocating the exhaust outlet to a new location in the building courtyard. Landlord's laundry room service provider testified that he merely repaired the duct system by replacing defective ducts but without changing the location of the exhaust outlets or ducts. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined it $800. Landlord appealed and won. ECB believed landlord and found that the repair work performed didn't require a permit. The violation was dismissed, and the fine was revoked.
