Landlord's Security Company Not Liable for Tenant Injuries
LVT Number: 18303
Tenant sued landlord and landlord's security company for negligence after she was attacked in the building. The security company asked the court to dismiss the claims against it. The court ruled against the security company, and it appealed. The appeals court ruled for the company. On Sept. 25, 2000, landlord had ordered security coverage at the building starting on Oct. 1, 2000. But on Sept. 29, 2000, landlord canceled the order for security coverage. So the security company had no obligation to provide security at the building on the date tenant was attacked.
