Landlord Used Attorney's Name Without Authorization
LVT Number: 13390
Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Landlord's petition named an attorney for landlord. The attorney asked the court to make landlord withdraw the petition and impose sanctions. The attorney claimed that he wasn't hired to represent landlord, that land- lord used his name without permission, and that landlord's court papers weren't properly made out. Landlord claimed he thought he had the attorney's permission to put his name on the court papers and that this was simply a mistake. The court ruled against landlord and imposed $2,000 in sanctions for frivo- lous conduct.
