Landlord Must Offer Renewal Lease in Tenants' New Names

LVT Number: #22774

Rent-stabilized tenants Andrea Moolchan and Michelle Moolchan complained that landlord sent them an improper renewal lease offer after each tenant changed her last name to de Barry. They had advised landlord of their new names, but landlord sent the renewal lease to them listing their old names. The DRA ruled for tenants and ordered landlord to send a revised renewal lease with tenants' new names. Landlord appealed and lost. Each of the two tenants presented court papers showing that they had legally changed their last names.
