Landlord Gets Two Months' Rent
LVT Number: 10230
Landlord sued for back rent when tenant moved out. The court ruled against landlord, and landlord appealed. The appeals court reversed and ruled for landlord. Tenant was a month-to-month tenant under an oral lease. Tenant gave notice that he was moving out in November 1991; this terminated the tenancy as of Dec. 31, 1991. Landlord therefore was entitled to collect rent for those two months.
