Landlord Fined $4,800 for Failing to Ground Water Main
LVT Number: #27117
DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for violating the Electrical Code Technical Standards for failure to ground a water main in the building. Landlord argued that the condition found by DOB didn’t occur at its building, but elsewhere. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined it $4,800. Landlord appealed and lost. DOB’s inspector established that the condition existed at the building through undisputed, detailed testimony. Related violations weren’t dismissed because the ALJ found that they occurred elsewhere but based on other defenses presented by landlord.
