Landlord Fined $1,000 for Corroded Boiler Flu Pipe

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord after its inspector found boiler defects. Landlord didn't dispute that the flue pipe was corroded and needed to be replaced with 16-gauge pipe, welded, and supported. But landlord claimed at a hearing that the condition was repaired after the violation was issued. The ALJ fined landlord $1,000. Landlord appealed and lost. The fact that the condition was repaired after the violation was issued didn't excuse landlord from the penalty.
