Landlord Didn't Discriminate Against Prospective Tenant

LVT Number: #23123

Prospective tenant sued landlord for discrimination. He claimed that landlord refused to rent an apartment to him because he had AIDS, in violation of the federal Fair Housing Act and state law. The U.S. District Court ruled against tenant, who appealed and lost. Landlord claimed that tenant failed to supply accurate, complete, and consistent income information with his housing application. Landlord sufficiently explained its nondiscriminatory reason for rejecting tenant, and there was no indication that this was a pretext.
