Landlord Can't 'Round Off' Dollar Amounts

Tenant complained of a rent overcharge. The DRA found that tenant had been overcharged, and awarded triple damages. Landlord appealed, arguing that no triple damages should be awarded because he'd simply rounded off the dollar amounts. The DHCR upheld the triple damage award. Landlord's ''rounding off'' didn't correspond to the nearest dollar figure. In any event, this doesn't prevent an award for triple damages.
