Landlord Can Evict Tenant Who Didn't Sign Renewal Lease

LVT Number: #27157

Landlord sued to evict rent-stabilized tenant for failure to sign a renewal lease. The court ruled for landlord and awarded landlord $49,000 in back rent owed. Tenant appealed and lost. All of tenant’s arguments, on appeal and before the lower court, were made in sworn statements claiming that they had been translated by an interpreter. But tenants’ papers didn’t include any sworn statement from an interpreter. So tenant’s papers were defective and inadmissible.
