Hearing on Sanctions Ordered

LVT Number: 9292

Tenant sued landlord in small claims court to get back a $25 bank charge. Landlord didn't show up in court, and the court ruled for tenant. Tenant then asked the court to hold landlord in contempt for not paying the judgment. Landlord claimed that it had credited tenant for the small claims judgment, and the court refused to find landlord in contempt. Tenant appealed. The appeals court ruled for landlord, and found that tenant's lawsuit and appeal constituted harassment. So, it sent the case back to the lower court for a hearing on sanctions against tenant.
