LVT Number: 14043
Landlord sued to evict rent-stabilized tenant to recover an apartment for owner occupancy. An appeals court ruled for tenant. Tenant then asked for attorney's fees. The court granted attorney's fees to tenant in the amount of $425,000. Landlord appealed. The appeals court reduced the award to $265,000. Tenant then appealed. The higher appeals court ruled against tenant. The attorney's fees award had been excessive and was properly reduced.
